The practice of self-love is continuous. Even when you think you have mastered the idea of self-love, it is then that you find there is more unfolding needing to take place. Getting to know yourself occurs daily; it is acceptance, it is understanding, it is gentleness.
The key elements of love are; loving kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. You can not offer anything to anyone else unless you have that for yourself. You have to accept yourself as you are. This is a very important practice; who you were last year is not the same person as you are today, and will not be the same person next year this time. As you practice building a home in yourself, you become more and more beautiful.
Self love is not a surface seeking task, but much deeper than that. We have to look deeply at our body, feelings, perceptions, mental formations, and consciousness. It is important to feed and support your own happiness, that is love; to learn the art of nourishing that happiness.
